What it costs
Door travel, joist direction and clearance are checked at the free on-site estimate, and the number of racks is confirmed then. Wall shelving, cabinets and mounts are priced on the storage installation page.
Overhead & ceiling racks
Overhead racks are 4×8 platforms mounted into ceiling joists, and they are the single biggest capacity gain available in most garages: a genuinely unused plane, directly above space you already own.
They also have the most constraints. A rack has to clear the garage door track and the opener through the door’s full travel, not just when it is closed. It has to mount into joists that can carry the load. And ceiling height has to leave usable clearance underneath, which in a garage with a low ceiling or a mid-mount opener sometimes means fewer racks than you were hoping for, positioned differently.
We check door travel, joist direction and clearance at the free estimate and tell you honestly what the ceiling will take. If the answer is two racks rather than four, we would rather say so before you are committed. To see what that buys in a tight space, fitting a three-car garage into a one-car garage walks through a real downsizing job: overhead racks and wall-mounted shelving, none of it standing on the floor.
Pulley System Overhead Ceiling Racks
More storage. Less lifting. Smarter garage organization.
Pulley system overhead racks take garage storage to the next level by combining the space-saving benefits of traditional ceiling racks with the convenience of a raising and lowering system. Instead of climbing ladders or struggling to lift heavy storage bins overhead, you can lower the platform to a more accessible height, load or unload your belongings, and raise it back toward the ceiling.
These systems are ideal for storing seasonal decorations, storage totes, camping gear, and other bulky items that take up valuable floor space. By using the unused space above your garage, you can keep your belongings organized and accessible while freeing up room for vehicles, tools, and everyday activities.
Proper installation is essential. Pulley systems require secure mounting into suitable ceiling framing, adequate clearance from garage door tracks and openers, and careful consideration of ceiling height and weight capacity. Not every garage has the same layout, which is why we evaluate your space before recommending the best placement.
At Garage Wolves, we take the guesswork out of overhead storage. During your free estimate, we assess your garage’s ceiling structure, available space, and clearance to determine whether a pulley system is the right fit.
The result? A cleaner, more functional garage with convenient overhead storage that works for your space and your needs.

Overhead storage questions
Usually, but it depends on ceiling height, joist direction and clearance around the garage door track and opener through its full travel. We check all of that at the free estimate and tell you how many racks the ceiling will actually take, which is sometimes fewer than people expect.
That depends on the specific rack and, more importantly, on the joists it is mounted into. We size the recommendation to the structure rather than to the rack manufacturer's maximum, and we will tell you what your ceiling supports.
